I always wanted to try those runners clothes that are supposed to Wick Moisture away from your skin and keep you cool. I wasn't sure how it worked but I see people every day jogging around town in it and thought "man do they look comfy" But while seeing these clothes at the store I realized the following:
#1 - They are too expensive and I couldn't see my self paying $50 for a shirt that was only used to sweat in a couple times a week.
#2 - What kind of fabric or chemicals are in this fabric that makes it do what it says it does... It can't be natural, right?
#3 - Mostly because it is too expensive
But then I got a surprise for my B-day from my Mother-N-Law. She sent me the wicking shirt, hat and socks. While still hesitant regarding the chemical composition of these things I gave them a try yesterday. And in a usual Vegmom manner I had the Opposite affect...
You'd think after all this time, I would realize that when something says it will do something... I should Just turn it around, flip it upside down, find the opposite, and that will be me!!!
So I got out for a run yesterday and although it was Very Hot here and the sun was beating down, I felt like my skin was boiling from the inside out while wearing those items. My feet were prickly from the heat in the socks, and my top was so hot that my skin was turning purple.. (beyond red) My head felt like it was going to explode... and all this after only 2 miles of jogging. So I walked two miles back home feeling defeat from my lack of finishing my mission and even had to sit on a bench a couple times to cool down and not pass out.
Needless to say... I don't think there was any wicking going on.. I'll stick to my all cotton bulky clothes for now on. I may soak through them but at least I don't feel like I'm going to explode.
