New Jogging Strategy

Well I got out to jog today, all by my lonesome... no stroller, no tot and no cargo, just Lil' Ol' Me!

I had a talk with myself during my little walking warm up and decided I was going to do something different this time.  I was going to push myself to a time limit instead of only going as far as my mind thinks I can.  I figured if I can keep moving for an hour on the tread mill with at least 30 minutes of that at running pace, and all in a musty basement... Surely I could go at least that long up and down the hills out in the pretty fresh air... HA YEAH RIGHT!!! 

But I begun my journey and was feeling pretty good, so I was determined to keep running until I was just too tired to do so and not even watch or wait for the next 1/4 mile medallion on the path.  I would watch my clock and push my self till I knew I was going to make an hour... 

Well by golly it worked and the funny thing was I ended up going three extra 1/4 mile medallions because apparantly my timeline I had set for myself was the same pace as I passed each medallion... what are the odds of that!!!  Anywho, I think when all was said and done, I had kept a slow and steady jogging pace for 2 1/2 miles.  And walked the remainder 1 mile back home + the 1/4 mile warm up...  SO I think I did pretty good, considering!

By the way... I'm home and still breathing!  WooHoo!!!  :-)

SWEET DREAMS COCOA PUFF

Just wanted to take a minute to say Good Bye to a little yapping, biting, sometimes psychotic little Pekingese Fluff Ball....She's gotten older and had some health problems so today is going to be her last day on this side of the clouds.  Bye Bye Cocoa Puff, I'll miss hearing your barking on the phone !!!

HUBBY KUDOS

I always have silly things to say about the Hubby, so today I shall send him some Kudos.  He went to our local Warehouse Store all by himself and stocked the house up with supplies (paper towel, toilet paper, etc.)  And all without me asking.  Very exciting... Yes, simple things excite me, but this makes for one less thing we need to do this weekend.  So it is worthy of excitement!!!

On another Hubby Note... I over heard a conversation today regarding a few husbands/fathers complaining about expecting to get there "relax" time, and one woman pretty much saying "How Dare you?"  It was actually the most entertaining conversation I've heard in a long time.  I couldn't actually get involved because I probably wasn't supposed to be listening, but I couldn't help to hear.  One thing that really dues repeating was a great statement made by the female in that conversation, she said that "Relax time is earned not given"  Sorry, if I didn't quote that exactly but the general statement was SOOO TRUE.. she was saying that if you do everything that needs to be done then you will get to relax.  And possibly if you do a bit extra then maybe your wife would get to relax too.. If not, then you don't get the right to sit down and put your feet up while the wife is still slaving away... Anyway, there was a lot more then that but it was funny to get a Man's point of view as to "why" they don't do things around the house, and why they think they "don't have to"  And in the end, no matter what she said, they stood their ground and didn't even see the other side.  Would be fun to actually call the wives to give them moral support!  :-) 

AMBULANCE SCAM

Yes two scams in ONE day...  I got a call from a 1-800#  I didn't answer it and an automated message appeared on my machine... They were asking for Lil'Veg and said they were from some Ambulance Company regarding his account.

Well 1st off, Lil'Veg is 3 Years Old...  He wouldn't have any accounts!!!!  2nd, it wasn't even the name of the same company that took care of Veg when he had to go to the hospital from his seizure last month.  and 3rd, I'd already paid my bill as well as insurance paid the rest, so there was no reason for them to call...

So warning #2 - if you ever need an ambulance and you start getting calls from annoying companies that have stolen your public records and are trying to scam you....BE CAUTIOUS!!!

I didn't answer that call and didn't return the call.  But SHAME SHAME SHAME on anyone that tries to do these horrible things to people.  "Get a real job, and quit trying to steal from hard working individuals that do nothing to you"

PHISHING BEWARE

I got my first Phishing Scam email from a Bank yesterday...  It was from a local Bank but not one that we belong to.  It said that my credit was about to be turned in to collections if I didn't pay on my account.  Of course I realized off the bat that this wasn't my bank, but the note did look real and for a brief moment I thought that maybe someone else was using my name on credit card accounts.  So I decided to look into this further.. The email seemed legit and even had the same "from" address as the "contact us" on the banks website.. But I noticed a few typos in the email itself and after going to the Banks direct website it said that these emails have been going around.

So I deleted it and did nothing, but this is a big warning to anyone else out there that gets any kind of BANK email.  Be Careful !!!!!

VETS PETS ETIQUETTE

Sorry if the Etiquette isn't spelled correctly, but I'm never one for good spelling and I can't find this in the spell check, so I'll assume it is OK.  :-)...

When I take my dogs to the Vet or anywhere for that matter, they are loud little yappers.  Annoying - YES!  Controllable - YES!  I always keep them in tight range on their leashes, never stray from my side and try to keep them quiet and sitting as much as possible... So they may not always sit or be quiet, but they don't ever get away from my side, and I don't let them touch another dog or human, just out of common courtesy not to mention health and something I would like to call "Vets Pets Etiquette"  Yes I made this up, but there should really be a Law written for this....

Chelsea and I walk in the Vet this morning, to find this lady with two dogs that she wouldn't control.  and rather then keep them on a small lead, she had them both on extended leashes, BUT she left them fully extended.  The dogs were LOUD, barking beyond annoyance, and I just kept my Chelsea back in a corner to try and stay away from them.  Next thing I know the lady finishes signing in and then allows her dogs over to mine and says "Go ahead you can make friends now, go smell her and see that she is your friend" 

OMG.... So would she allow someone to walk up and smell her Butt to see if she wanted to be friends!  GOODNESS, at that point she had crossed the line, but the fact that she actually proceeded to follow me as I walked away with my dog, so that her dogs couldn't get close to mine, just annoyed the Crud out of me.. The more I walked away from her, the more she followed (and the office wasn't very big) Not to mention they didn't look healthy and if I was at the doctor sick, I wouldn't go up to people on purpose and breath/drool all over them.  So the whole situation had me aggravated..  I told her to Stop!  And she says "Oh no, its Ok they won't hurt her, they just want to be close to her"  so I said "Well she doesn't like that, Please move them away"  (my sweet little angel Chelsea dog is actually a devil around other "non Spunky" dogs)  I really should have let her turn and bight one of them, but they would have killed her if a fight broke out, they were bigger and no way that woman would have controlled them.  So I said again, "She will bight and doesn't like other dogs around her"

As I'm continuing to pull Chelsea away from these dogs, and giving this lady really evil looks...she finally realized I was serious...  As if this all wasn't bad enough, a lady then walks in with her baby in a carrier.  She sets the carrier down on a seat across the room and goes to check in at the counter.  That Dog lady actually let her dogs loose again to go "meet the baby"  ACH!  I thought the Mom was going to have a heart attack, and the poor child just started SCREAMING in Terror.  The mother now trying to calm the child, the dogs are barking their heads off, and the lady says "Oh they just want to get to know the baby thats all" and didn't even pull them back.

ACH!!!!  Needless to say this lady should have been carted off to Vet Etiquette Jail...  My Chelsea was actually QUIET compared to those dogs, and I was so proud that she kept her cool around them.  But how horrible if a fight would have broken out or worse yet that baby get hurt, and on top of that mine and all the other dogs getting sick because of hers ...

So to that I say... Please Please respect other people and critters when going to the Vet.. No one "wants to be there" so at least make it as comfortable as possible for others.

GOOD WEEK

This has been a really productive week so far... Not only have I got tons of things caught up work wise, and a few things around the house that I'd been putting off, but lots of other things that have just caught up with me time wise along with fun things...

Yesterday Lil'Veg and I went to the Dentist.  I got my teeth all clean and as we have every other visit, Lil'Veg came with me.  Only this time he was "3" so he got to sit in the big chair and have his teeth looked at and scraped a bit, check for cavities etc.  He was SOOO Good.. He even told the dentist that he brushes all the time (Not so much)  and he said that it didn't even hurt when she was working in there.  So when we go back in 6 months we will try for a real cleaning.  He even has his "very own" appointment scheduled.  Hopefully he will remember that it didn't hurt and enjoy going back.

This Morning I ran up to the vet (not really ran, actually drove, got lost, took forever... and finally made it to the vet) so Chelsea could get her stitches out.  She was also a real trooper, didn't even flinch when they removed them.  She still has one spot that is kinda scabby so I'm going to keep an eye on that but for the most part she is all healed.  Also got flea and heartworm stuff to last us a few months.

I got some pretty cool Ebay Scrapbook finds - haven't done Ebay in forever, but decided to look for some good album prices and I found them.  Also won the bid which is even better..

Got a couple bills written and house work done...Cooked some really yummy fresh organic Veggies including Corn, Asparagus, Green beans... Yum Yum Yum 

Organized all my pictures on the computer into folders for this year (I got behind and my documents were too full)  Printed all the April Photos so I'm caught up with that now.

We got Veg's Music Class almost set up, which is exciting.  Got tickets to a Veggie Tales Concert for the Vegman.  Along with ideas for more activities this summer.

And even got a few more Scrapbook pages done.  Nothing fancy, just lots of square/rectangle pictures on pretty paper with journaling.   

OOH, almost forgot to mention the Rainbow we saw today over our house, which was huge and beautiful... Didn't get a good photo or I would post it here.  Maybe next time.

Tonight, Lil'Veg and I started his very own little scrapbook album.  I actually wish I'd gotten him a big one to start with and work from, but instead I just used a little 6x6 paper album that I got with a kit a long time ago.  I didn't think he'd really get in to it, but MAN did he have fun.  I let him print the pictures he took at the park last week, along with some other photos and old index prints.  He cut out the pictures himself, really good actually and then glued them down on his decorated pages that he decorated by himself.  He used stamps, markers, chalk, stickers, etc. Just tonight he's almost filled up all the pages.  Then he decorated the outside and even the ribbon, on the inside cover he drew all his favorite veggie tales, including Mr. Lunt, which really really looked like Mr. Lunt.  He made the cucumber, the tomato, squash.  He's really gotten good at drawing faces and shapes, etc.  Anyway, we had lots of fun.  And what a great project.  I'm pretty sure I will let him continue taking pictures and then filling up his album.  (which won't take long at this rate)

I also have a time set up next week to learn how to play Frisbee Golf.  Considering I can't throw a frisbee straight to save my life, this is going to be a real challenge.  However more of a challenge for poor Natt who plans to teach me.  Sorry Natt, I think  you'll hate me by the end of that day.... But I'm going to practice.... This weekend I'll be outside flippin' disks all over the yard.  This should be fun!!!  :-)

And Lastly, Lil'veg was going through his Daddy's jewelry box today and found a little cross charm and said he wanted to wear it just like Daddy (he has a big cross that he wears)..  So Hubby found an old chain, took out a couple links, and modified it to fit on Veg's neck.  I came home from work to see my little man wearing his first necklace.  It was sooooo cute.  And he was soooo proud.  I had to convince him to take it off at bed time, by creating a special box to put the necklace to sleep in, and he found a special place in one of his drawers to keep the box safe.  (His very own Jewelry box which was just a little hand painted wooden box that I had made for his bedroom)  We decided that this weekend we would have to get him a real chain that isn't modified with broken links, so he will hopefully have less of a chance of it falling off while he's at the park or something.  We realized quickly as the night went on that if he loses this thing he's going to be devastated, even though it's nothing fancy and we could probably get another one, this one is "special" because it was Daddy's....

Well I think thats everything.... Dogs are snoring, Veg is finally settling down for bed, and I may hit the hay before midnight....WooHoo...

CLEANING FUNNY

We have a 5 shelf plastic thing-a-majig in the shower.  It is impossible to clean and even harder to take apart.  So when I'm cleaning the shower I always sort of spray the thing down and rinse, but After my last struggle with it, I've never again "REALLY" scrubbed it clean like I do the rest of the shower.  Hubby has been making comments here and there about it, and I continue to say, "So clean it, if its bothering you that bad"

Well last night he got a bug up his butt to clean the thing.  HA HA HA.... So he's in the shower (doing shower things) and I hear crash boom crash, and some more crash... So I run in to make sure everything is OK..  He had decided he was going to clean the shelf thing while he was in the shower.  The Crash Boom Crash sound was everything tumbling off the shelf while he tried to remove it in "one" piece.  HA, so then he starts taking it apart, and more crash boom as the shelves fell off the brackets... By the way his idea was that since he was already dirty and hadn't really showered yet, he would clean the shelf thing, put it back up and then finish his shower in quick order. (ha, yeah right)

<a little friendly cursing occurred at this point>  While he's realizing this thing is a PAIN IN THE PETUKAS!

So I'm thinking to myself, "How did he even plan to clean it, with face soap, or maybe Shampoo?"  I mean really, what was he going to do???  So laughing to myself I walk back out of the bathroom (once I new everyone was OK)

Then he hollers at me for some paper towel...  SO I ablidge and take him in some paper towel.  (at this point I'm really laughing, because what does he plan to do with the paper towel.  The shower is ON mind you and he's still in the shower at this point, so I'm thinking a whole role of wet paper towel isn't going to really help him clean anything, right?)

Oh and by the way, the entire shelving unit in about 10 pieces is laying on the floor in the shower...

Finally I hear "Forget this"  followed by some more friendly cursing.  And he continues to take his shower with the shelf pieces all around him. 

He gets out of the shower, dries, and clothes himself and I walk in the bathroom to find everything still laying in the tub.  I just look at him and he says "That didn't work like I thought it would, I'm going to take it down and clean it in the washtub downstairs"

Hmmmm?  so now he his taking his clean self, carrying a dirty, wet, drippy shelving unit through the house and down the stairs, in to the garage to wash it in the laundry wash tub.

<ok that made a lot of sense, the wash tub is 1/4 of the size of the Bath Tub.  The Bath Tub had a hand sprayer and the thing was already in the tub!!!  But I guess carrying it down to a different sink was going to make it easier to clean...  Maybe if he would have used more then wet paper towels the tub upstairs would have worked just fine?>

Well once down there he used Cleaning Detergent and rags to clean it so of course it got clean much easier then it was upstairs.  But surely he could have done the same thing upstairs and saved himself the trouble.. But Anywho....

Then he has to tote the thing back upstairs and put it all back together.... 2 hours from the start, the thing is sparkly shiny clean and back in its proper place, while hubby is filthy, sweating and sitting in front of our Son's Fan.

<what are you doing?  Yes I asked, not sure why, it just came out of my mouth.>

"I'm trying to cool my self down, that was a lot of friggin work, now I need to take another shower"

<YEAH YA THINK>   HA HA HA.....

SATURDAY

Saturday was a Great Active Day. 

We started Lil'Veg back up with Gymnastics.  Only this time he's 3 years old, so he gets to go to the next class.  And we don't get to go with him.  So for the first time ever, Lil'veg was being instructed by a stranger, with strange kids (only 2 of them) and he did GREAT!!!  He did everything he was told, and did Every activity.  Even those he was afraid of and would never try.  He did all of them....  We sat in the bleachers and watched.  I think it was the best 45 minutes of my whole life.  It was soooooo much fun to see him and his thought process from a new level.  Sitting up high with him not knowing we were there, and watching him try things, rooting him on silently.  I sware I was on the edge of my seat thinking "you can do it" or wondering "will he really do that" And I couldn't believe, he walked the entire High Beam with no help, flipped on the rings without letting go, jumped on the trampoline with no assistance, and even climbed a wall ladder up about 15 feet all by himself then back down.  Granted he's a bit taller and stronger then he was last time we went.  But his confidence level and his maturity is what shocked me.  And the fact that he was soooo Good around the other kids and listening to the teacher when she told him to sit down, or stay on that mat till its your turn, etc..  I really couldn't believe it.  And even the teacher couldn't believe it.   Bad news is that she was just a fill in teacher.  So I'm not sure the real teacher will be as good with the kids.  I told Hubby we needed to get her name, so that if we don't like the "real" teacher, that we can find out what days this one teaches.

So after Gymnastics we all went for a nice lunch... Then a boring shoe store while Hubby picked up some work boots... Lil'Veg and I walked down to a bike shop and we finally found a bike he could fit on.  It was so cute and he really loved it.  But it was $109 and will probably only last one summer.  So we didn't get it...

Then I was dropped off at SH's House so her and I could go spend our Yard Sale Gift Cards at the Scrap store.  I only sold $38 worth of stuff this time, and spent $43 yesterday.  So that wasn't so bad.  I got a really cool Circle Punch (very good recommendation by SH) a bunch of paper, stickers, a stamp roller thingydo which was pretty neat.  I try to make it tradition to buy things I wouldn't normally buy since its sorta extra scrap money that I wouldn't normally get.  Last sale I got a whole Chalking set, which was kinda nifty.   We then made a stop at Starbucks and back to the house.

When I got home, Lil'veg was a bit fussy (didn't take his nap)  so I decided BUBBLES were in order.  And somehow I even convinced Hubby to chill out and have some fun with us.  It was soooo cool.  Bubbles Bubbles Every Where!!!!  We had a bunch of fun, but then it was time for Hubby to mow the yard.. So we came inside.  I got Veg down for a nap FINALLY....  And then it was CLEANING TIME..

Hubby got the whole yard mowed, and I got the Shower cleaned, counters, sinks, mirrors, a couple windows, Floors Scrubbed, laundry almost caught up, house straightened, Craft room cleaned, and Albums in order.... I even got a couple pages started so I just need to add pictures when I get them printed.

When the mail came we got our Animusic Videos that I ordered for Veg and Hubby..  They are really cool, if you haven't seen them this is a must see.  The boys watched those for a while last night, and by then I was POOPED!  So we started bed time.... HA HA HA... 3 hours later we went to sleep!

STRONG - NOT!

I made it out for another jog today and actually made it over a mile with the Jogging Stroller.  Then walked the rest up hill and back.  But while jogging, this man ran past me, and I'm talkin' a man in very good shape.  "Ripped" as they say.  And not slowing down for anything, now I don't know how far he had run but he didn't look like he was even a little bit challenged.  And the guy wasn't wearing a shirt.  He had more muscles sticking out of his left peck then I have in my whole body (not that I was looking).  But he looked at goofy ol' me, (sweaty, out of breath, hair flying) struggling to push 65 pounds worth of stroller and cargo up this one little hill and still keep some likeness to a jog at my feet and he says "Your stronger then me, I could never do that" and off he ran. 

I know he was just trying to be nice, but the man could have lifted Lil'Veg and Stroller over his head with his pinky finger and ran to the park and back, before I even made it up that one hill.  HA HA

But at least I tried, and something is better then nothing, I always say!!!

So I started thinking, How much weight am I really toting?

Lil'Veg 30lbs.  Stroller 20lbs (at least)  bag, snacks, drinks - 15 pounds...  So indeed that is at least 65 pounds of cargo for every walk/jog I attempt.  Goodness....

My Uncle would really yell at me if he knew this, so we will be quiet... shhh!  But I haven't worn any sunscreen or hats this week.  my original thought was to let the sun clear up my skin, but that hasn't really worked as planned.  Then I noticed the freckle face tan starting to pop out.  I haven't had my freckle face tan in at least 8 years.  Well I kind of like it.  So I won't continue with my horrible skin cancer causing ways forever.  But thought a week may not hurt so much.   I'll get back to my hats and sunscreen next week.  :-)

"NO, that's a BAD IDEA, I can't talk to my body because it doesn't have a mouth"

LATE FOR WORK

I get home today to find my Hubby in a Frenzy "I'm late for work, you need to start coming home earlier so I can get dressed and ready to go"

hmmm?  So again I think "Because you can't get dressed and ready for work, if I'm not home?"  CAN SOME ONE OUT THERE IN THE BLOGOSPHERE, PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME???? 

I don't help him get dressed?  I don't lay out his clothes, I don't even look for his clothes?  I don't help him brush his teeth, I don't make his lunch, I do NOTHING that constitutes him NEEDING me home for him to get ready for work?

Hmmm?

PARK AGAIN

We made it out to the park for a walk/jog again today...  My body is probably saying "what the heck are you doing to me, first you leave me alone for a while and then you do this!"  :-)

But yes I'm back into the "do what you can" Exercise Routine..  And actually just from the past few weeks, my pants are starting to fit better again.  So maybe I can really keep it up this time.  We shall see!  Last year at this time I was jogging up to 3-4 miles when I was by myself.  This year I'm lucky to get a mile with out being exhausted.  And last year I was exercising so much that I could even jog a couple miles while pushing the stroller, while this year I'm having a hard time getting it up one hill.  Soooo either I'm really out of shape or I'm getting old and requiring more energy.  (probably a little bit of both)

NO SANTA THEN ORDER

Conversation from tonight:

"Mommy did you have all these toys when you were little like me"

"No I didn't have any of these toys when I was your age"

"Oh Well,  you will get them all after Christmas from Santa.  Santa Clause will bring them to you and then you will have all the toys that I have.  And if he runs out, then we'll just order them from Sharon's house, OK?"

THIS IS A BUBBLE

I bought Lil'Veg a Bubble Blower thing-y-do at Target today.. I didn't get the whole set, just the wand looking one.  Anyway... It was MESSY, and after one use we pretty much used up all the bubbles that were in the free container.   When I say Messy, I mean MESSY... The contraption itself spewed bubble liquid all over, so if you didn't hold it away far enough you would get soaked just from holding it.  And it was heavy and hard to push, so Veg couldn't use it for very long by himself.   When a bubble popped it sort of exploded and by the time we were done, Lil'Veg was soaked from head to toe in bubbles.  So I'm glad we only paid $8.88 for it...  HOWEVER... Lil'Veg laughed and laughed, he had so much fun.  And if the wind blew just right, you'd get a monster bubble like this one! 

If I had it to do again, I would have still bought it, just for the experience of some silly time.  But it was a pain in the hiney!

FUN TODAY

We went for a walk/jog up to the park today and met our friends again. I was sure to pack enough snacks and drinks this time.  And the kids had lots of fun.

Lil'Veg fell today off a park bench, which is my fault for saying he was less clumsy in an earlier Blog Post.  I jinxed it.  Also my fault for not catching him before he bonked the ground.  SHAME ON ME... But he was ok after some loud screams and a bruise/scratch on his Noggin.

BACK TO JOGGIN'

With all the park walks and jogging with Lil'Veg this past couple weeks, I decided I really needed to start jogging again by myself and getting back in to shape.  I mean if Lil'Veg can make it 3/4 of a mile now with out even being out of breath, I will never be able to keep up with him if we really start doing that together daily.  Also everyone is feeling good this week, and the weather is nice so there really was no excuse to not go outside.  While Veg was napping today I decided to go out for a jog.

Hubby was playing on the computer and mentioned that I needed to be back in 40 minutes because he had to be somewhere.  And then he says, "actually if you can come back sooner because I have to get dressed" 

Because you can't get dressed if I'm jogging?  Is there a law written somewhere that he can't get dressed if I'm not home.  Lil'Veg was napping, dogs were napping, and he was playing a game on the PC.  So there is really NO reason he couldn't get dressed instead of playing the game so that I could have an extra few minutes on my Jog.  Wellllll...I pretty much said that.... and then took the whole 40 minutes to go for my outing.  Although the first 5 minutes turned out helping getting my neighbor to realize that her dog had gotten out (she was laying in the main road just resting) and then helping chase down her down once she realized we were trying to catch her.

So, when I got home... Lil'Veg was awake and all dressed cute and Hubby was dressed and ready to go.  They decided to go together!  WOO HOO!!!  He wanted me to go, but I'm glad I didn't... This has been pretty relaxing... and recapping the week on this Blog is always fun.

I'm going to go get cleaned up a bit, put away some laundry and then I'll post some pictures of our breakfast and other adventures from the week if the boys aren't back yet!

SCRAP NIGHT AGAIN

Had another Scrapbook night last night, only this time it was all about making Cards!

I was going to post pictures here but if someone sees them that I may mail it too, then that would be bad right?  So I'll just take a couple pictures, and after they are all mailed out and received I'll post them here. 

Our event was at SH's house last night while our hubbies were on kid duty.  And I think we broke our late night record.  I didn't get home till almost 4am.  We only got 6 cards done combined, but I learned how to emboss.  And we both learned some new things while trying to make these cards.  It was a lot of fun.  We got to talk A LOT again and of course Starbucks Java Chip Frap was our drink of choice.

When Lil'Veg woke up this morning I said "Happy Easter"  and he says "You can't say that to me!"

"why not?"  I ask

"Because its not Easter"

"Well yes it is"

"I have to find Easter eggs in order for it to be Easter!"

HA, Now how the heck did he know that?  He's never done an Easter egg hunt and never decorated eggs since we don't eat them, and just never done anything out of the ordinary for Easter and yet, he was very determined that if I was saying today was Easter that there must be a hunt for Easter Eggs somewhere.

So as resourceful as I am trying to be these days, I decided to make him Easter Egg Pancakes.

And even better I made an Easter Bunny Pancake that Veg said looked more like a Cat.  But hey at least I tried.  And decorated Easter Egg shaped Pancakes. 

I must say they were the best ever.. I mixed in applesauce, soy milk, crushed walnuts, banana, Cinnamon, and then when they were almost completely cooked, I put rows of sprinkles that melted just enough to make an Easter Egg.  I didn't have a cookie cutter so I just chopped out the shapes.  For the Bunny (cat), I used Chocolate Chips, Strawberries, and those Chinese noodle things.

Well that was a big hit, he LOVED his breakfast and fruit bowl and juice that went with it... But it just wasn't an Easter Egg Hunt.  So I decided to try out a new church in the area that was having an Egg Hunt for the kids outside in a huge field.  We went, and Veg had a GREAT time.  They had tons of junk food, which we mostly through away, and lots of candy/gum, which we also got rid of since we don't really eat that stuff regularly.  But he did get bubbles, which were the hit, he ate a cookie and had some chips, and got a little ball along with the basket he gets to keep.  So he was just flying high.  He had a great time.

Strange thing was when I walked up there they just took his hand and started walking away from me and telling me by see you soon.  I thought "what the heck"  turns out it was for the kids while the parents were in the service.  But I just wasn't having that, so I stayed, as awkward as it was.  There were a couple adults to like 30 kids.  and they had no idea where any of them were at any given time.  My Lil'veg would have been lost in the shuffle for sure.  And the poor thing didn't even know how to search for eggs, but the lady just gave him a basket and said "here you go"... He just stood there, and I had to show him what to do.  Yes I'm a mother HEN!!

It was so cute when he sat down with the other kids to have snacks, I sat back and watched him interact.  Well he just sat there with all his food in his hands, cookie melting all over him, and he just kept asking for a plate and napkin.  They completely ignored him... All the other kids stuffing their faces, and he's standing there "I need a plate please, can I please have a plate" Finally they gave him his plate.  But then he started asking for a napkin (he doesn't like to be messy)  After he asked about 10 times, and being so polite but them ignoring him I finally got him his napkins and gave one out to all the other kids that were now asking for them.   Needless to say I won't ever leave him in that situation with out me there, but he did have a great time.  And the adults were nice, they were just overwhelmed. 

So he got to come home and play with his bubbles (all gone now) and his new sticky ball thingy.  And eat some more of his favorite Easter pancakes.  So it turned out to be a good morning...

NATURE PICTURES

We went to a park Friday that just a walking trail, no swings or anything.  And Lil'veg likes to take the lead on the trail.  He chooses our directions and usually doesn't stop till we get to the top and come back down.  Last time we went there as a family, I started a new game "Everyone stop and tell me what you see"  It was so interesting to hear what Lil'veg saw, vs. what we saw.  Of course he saw everything lower to the ground while we were looking high up in the trees.  But after a few walks like that he started looking up more.  And the other day he saw the clouds and a birdie way up high.

Well this time I decided to do something different.  I told Lil'veg that every time he sees something cool we will take a picture of it.  Then we can make him his own little nature album with all the pictures he took.  And we can research plants when we get home etc.  Soooo  Thats what we did.  We got pictures of squirrels, trees, plants, and the best one that I will post here soon is a picture of a HOLE in the bridge.  Yes, he had to have a picture of that hole in the bridge.  It turned out to be a fun addition to our walks, and hopefully will add pizzazz to his already growing interest for nature.

SCRAP YARD SALE

I'm so excited, there is a scrapbook store that has a yard sale every year, where you bring in all your left over stuff and sell it for cheap.  All the money you make you get back in credit to buy more stuff.  The store has got to be making a killin' off this thing.  But we've also gotten some pretty good deals.

When we went to the sale a couple weeks ago, we each walked out with a few cheap (nice) things.  But the best part was that, she picked up her receipts yesterday and it turns out she sold over $70 worth of stuff.  HOW COOL.. I haven't picked mine up yet, but I'm so anxious.  So were planning a shopping day to meet up there and spend some, or all of it.  And that is always fun every year, almost a tradition.

CONFIDENCE

One night after work Lil'veg said he wanted to go jogging with me.  So we got his jogging stroller all ready and filled with necessities and off we went.  But when we got to the trail, He didn't want to be pushed while I jog, he actually wanted to JOG... So of course I let him.  and we jogged a good 3/4 mile.  He made it all by himself up and down the hills, with not one tumble.  I was so proud of him.  And he was real proud of himself.  Now he did stop to look at every divit in the ground, butterfly, bug of any kind, airplane, leaf, sticks, etc...  But in the end he made it to the end of the trail.

Well we start crossing the street to the park and he said he wants his friend to meet us there.  I called SH and she was actually near by.  So they bopped over to the park.  Lil'Veg was so excited to see them he actually handed out hugs and excitement.  Those boys played and played for a long time.  And Lil'veg went down every single big slide that even a week before he was terrified of.  He's gaining his confidence, loosing his clumbsies a little bit, and just having so much fun.  We through some sticks in to the water, and played some more and then it was time to head home before dark...

Horrible me, didn't bring enough food and drinks for both kids but of course I didn't know they were coming, and everything was so spur of the moment.  I think it went well though inspite of that over site.

And the funny thing is that now every where we go, Lil'veg thinks he can just call his friend and he will be there within minutes.  Not realizing that this was just a perfect circumstance and perfect timing that will probably never happen again.

POOP ART

Thank Goodness this isn't wall art, but it seems every morning the past few days Lil'Veg is waking up and needing to go potty.  At that point he needs to show everyone his creation.  And every time he has a new name for it.

Well yesterday was the best I think...  "Mommy wake up come see my fishy in the potty"  <fishy in the potty?>  "Yes Yes, Look, I made a fishy with 10 fins, every day I make a new picture out my tushie, isn't this exciting"

POOR CHELSEA

Our little Chelsea had to have her first surgery since we got her from the pound 8 (or so) years ago.  She had a lump under her arm ( a tumor they say)  anyway, its been there and grown through the years.  Probably got to be a quarter size circle and almost an inch thick.  But never bothered her, and the vet said she'd probably have to have it removed this year.  (last year they said just to monitor it)...  Well the Vet wanted to charge me $480 (not including meds)  ACH!!!!!  For the lumpectomy and teeth cleaning.  I wasn't able to spend that much, so I figured I'd shop around.  But while shopping around this past weekend the lump grew and busted through her skin.  Can you say DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!  Of course now I'm going to have to pay the 480 with out a choice until.....

A really cool person at work told me about her Vet.  And to make a really long story short... 2 visits, antibiotics, teeth cleaning, tumor removal and cutting her nails, all came to $165....  She was dirty when I picked her up so I was worried about their conditions and for that price, I couldn't expect amazing service.  But the stitches seem to be holding (8 of them) and no infection still 3 days later.  She also seems on the mend, running around and playful.  Her teeth also look great (well the ones she still has in her mouth), and she no longer has that horrible odor that was lingering (probably gum infection)  She's still on antibiotics but swallows them happily with Peanut Butter. 

Her stitches and the incision is MUCH bigger then I imagined.  But they used pink stitches for her little poshy self so all is good.

Catch Up

As mentioned, it may be the weekend before I get to write these days so I have lots to catch up on!  Been a pretty busy week, I must say!  I've decided to make each event, its own post so this one doesn't get superduper long.  Just look at the ones that interest you, or spread them out through the week.

How do I have time to type this all now you may ask?  Well the boys are not in the house, they went "out" together, I'm so glad there doing that more...  Ok I'll explain more about that later!

YEAH, YA THINK

Ok, I always used to say that my hubby and I needed a "thing", a hobby, a special thing.  Something fun that we both enjoyed doing, that would send us on new adventures with out even leaving the area.  I mean for some couples its motorcycles, for some sky diving, or water skiing, boating, etc.  Well we never found a "THING" He always had his video games and I always have my crafts, but nothing we could really focus on and look forward to together....

Since Lil'Veg came along I haven't really thought about that much because he became our "thing"... He is what we have in common that we both enjoy and we constantly can talk about.  Well I thought that was obvious and a given, no need to discuss it....

So now for the silliness... Tonight my Hubby calls and says "I just figured it out"  <figured what out>  "We have a "thing""  <what?>  "ya no, the thing you wanted all these years, we now have our "thing""   So at this point I'm thinking he has a brilliant idea, something zany, something we are going to do this weekend that we will all enjoy, something completely unexpected....and then reality hits with his next words.  "We have Lil'veg, He's Our thing"

OK, YEAH, YA THINK, WHERE THE HECK HAVE YOU BEEN FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS????  That comment actually spewed out of my mouth (sometimes I can't control my mouth)  and so he says "Alright I'm slow, but I hope you still love me"  :-)  <of course>

But this does explain a lot ladies.  If it is true that they are slow at catching on to things and we've significantly measured a 3 year curve.  Then maybe thats the whole problem.  If there is a time lapse of up to 3 years between their brains and ours.... imagine how many things in our lives that this now makes perfect sense about.  Hmmm? 

FUNNY THINGS THEY SAY

Lil'Veg was spinning around in circles tonight and then he says "Mommy every time I spin, the wall is changing sides" hee hee hee

He was sitting a little too long in a funny position and says "My foot is all tingly"  so I told him that means his foot fell asleep.  So on the phone with his daddy he says "Daddy, My foot was really tired and decided to go to sleep all by itself and then it tingled me"

Very cute movie that helps teach Tot's how to read if they already know their letters... This Leapfrog Story Book Factory DVD has been so much fun.  And he learned the "Punctuation" song.  He now walks around and everything he sees in the house he points out "Mommy thats a Comma, it pauses a sentence" or this "OOH LOOK, thats an exclamation point, you use that to MAKE YOUR POINT"  and of course this "Hey thats a pyramid (period) it puts a STOP to that sentence"

On a call today with his Grandma (in the month of April mind you) he says, "Grandma, if you come down for Christmas we are going to go out in the snow and eat lunch at the table.  If you wait till it snows then there won't be any bird poopy on the table out there"

But the best thing he said all night wasn't even funny at all but so darn sweet... While on the phone with his Grandpa C.  He told him "Grandpa I really like you, your my special special person, when will you come to visit me again"  AWWWWWW!!!!

GREAT GREAT DAY

If we all could be this way, what a wonderful world it would be...

Lil'veg woke up this morning and ran into my bedroom saying "Mommy Mommy, Wake up I made Mr.Sun come up, what a great great day this is, the Sun is up, come on Mommy get out of that bed"

Really makes you stop and remember what is truly important....

We got out for a walk to the park today, lots of play time there, and then we played out side for a while.

We had a "Mountain of Nachos" for dinner.  Yum Yum....  Veggie Black Refried Beans, Veggie Meat, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Zucchini, Colored Peppers, Onions, seasonings, lemon juice and salsa, all on top of Blue Corn Nacho Chips.  Hubby had Mexican Cheese shreds and sour cream on his.  He even went back for seconds, so it was a success.  (if you ever need more detailed recipes just leave a comment and I'll get back with you)

Also for breakfast, I saw a really cool idea in a magazine last night...  I've always had apples dunked in peanut butter.. UMMY UMMY..  But I never thought to make sandwiches with them.  So if you cut the apples real thin and core the center with a cool design (never new they had stars in them if you cut them just right) anyway, you make two thin slices of apple and put peanut butter in the center then you have a peanut butter sand which with apples instead of bread.  and they were really good.  It also said you could use jelly, or cream cheese.  But we just tried the peanut butter this time.  And used Green apples.  I guess certain apple types wouldn't be strong enough to work, you will have to experiment.  But Veg loved his and between the two of us we ate all the sandwiches.

I think thats all I got from this "Great Great Day"  Hope yours was a great one where ever your at!!!!

LITTLE GROCERY CART

We stopped in at a new grocery store last night to see what they had "healthy wise" and although the store itself wasn't all that great, they did have little grocery carts for Lil'Veg to push around him self in the store.  They weren't plastic toys, they were the real thing only smaller.  And man did he think he was cool.  We didn't get a cart for us and just let him push his around to collect groceries.  He had so much fun and was so proud that it was one more thing he could do "all by myself" :-)

He kept saying, "Look, this buggy is for little guys like me"  We didn't really have anything we needed to buy, but we let him pick out a few things for his cart and at the check out he handed everything to the lady and then paid for his groceries.  He even wanted to carry them out to the car "All by myself"

I have a feeling we will be taking trips to that store just to push his very own cart if even just to find one or two things.... He could even buy stuff for dinner that night etc.  How Fun!!!
