If you read this post you will know that we weren't going to celebrate Halloween today... However I was determined to make this a fun day for our lil'veg man. We agreed to have a Silly Apple and Pumpkin Day... I wasn't quite sure all that would be involved, and with him not feeling good the past couple days I had to play this one by ear. Flying by the seat of my Mommy pants, we came up with the best day and the most fun. Hubby started it off actually....
He got home early and raked the leaves that had fallen so far in to a pile. When I picked up Veg from school, he said he had a "hard day" and didn't want to have any fun tonight. He looked exhausted, and I figured we would have to celebrate our silly day when he was feeling better.
But when we pulled in and he saw his Leaf Pile, he went CRAZY!!! Ready to jump and play with his Daddy! And the best part was that he was wearing his "leaf" shirt that he had made the other day. It couldn't be more perfect!! They had soo much fun and I just flashed pictures every chance I got. Took 87 of them actually, hee hee.. I used some really cool camera features and had tons of fun. This one is snapped in mid-flight of a huge jump.
When we came inside I started the bobbing for apples. We each got a big bowl full of water and a clean apple to bob for. It was much harder then it looked and Veg had the best time. And we all ate our apples (they keep doctors away, ya no)
After that, I found an idea on Kaboose - we cut a bruised apple a part and made "stamps" out of the pieces with red paint and cardboard. They didn't come out as good as I hoped, but we enjoyed it anyway.
Then I remembered the "healthy" candy I bought at the Health Food store, and since Veg was feeling better, I figured he could have some. So I found a bowl from last Christmas and we refaced it. making a silly pumpkin bowl out of paper and markers. Veg made the face, and I think its just perfect! He had a couple pieces and the rest of the candy is left on the table in our cool bowl for us to munch on.
As if this wasn't all silly enough... We pulled out Veg's potato Head parts and made Potato head apples... They were so funny! You can't help but laugh at this one!
And of course we had to carve a real Pumpkin... So this is our attempt at a very happy silly pumpkin! (triangles were Veg's idea)
Dinner was simple because our Vegman still doesn't have his appetite back. But I couldn't resist pulling out the Vegan Cupcake Cook Book and making Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cupcakes. OH MY YUM!!! They are SOOOOOO GOOOOODDDDD!! Hubby had gone to church after the apple bobbing and came home conveniently after the cupcakes were done. He at 4 of them before heading to bed. I'm telling you, they are GOOOD! *smile*
At bed time, Veg crashed in to sleep faster then I could say it was bed time. And I had time to clean up the huge mess we made and upload my 100 pictures to our family page.
Hope you had a great day, where ever and how ever you celebrated it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
